The LocumTenens.com recruitment team is driven by its mission to connect clients and clinicians to take care of patients. This strategy leads to specialized knowledge and personal relationships, which we can see through their recent efforts to recruit military urologists.

Caroline Grounds, an Account Director at LocumTenens.com, has been in the recruitment industry for over 12 years and specializes in recruiting for urology positions. She has found that urologists in the military like to make extra income on leave or a break from deployments. Many of these physicians have student debt, and locums work allows them to resolve some of the financial burdens.

Most recently, she was tasked with finding a physician to fill in for a urologist who needed a personal break. Caroline connected the candidate with the organization - the Minnesota urologist got a break, the community got the needed coverage, and the military urologist earned extra income.

Narrowing the candidate pool to physicians who currently live (or have previously lived) in rural areas is a tactic she has used to find physicians who would be more likely to accept this type of role.

Keys to Success

  1. Focus on the geography and ties to the area first and pay attention to small details. Does a candidate have links to the place where the client’s opportunity is? Is the candidate affiliated with a medical group or hospital? How about the size of the clinics they’ve worked in?

  2. Finding physicians who want to work in locum tenens positions requires a lot of factors to align perfectly, so use the advanced search features to keep narrowing your search. It’s invaluable.
